Income of average ladder assist can vary based on the markets that you are working in and if you are a local technician or a CAT tech. The ladder assist industry is rapidly growing because of the current trend to send ladder assist to inspect the properties, instead of sending adjusters or independant adjusters. CAT technicians can make a very good living as a 1099, six figures + (100k plus) depending on the deployment and the amount of storms in the region. (the more you work the more you make!)
Here are some general truths about the industry:
- Most roof inspectors/techs are 1099 sub contractors working full time for one ladder assist company
- Techs work 7 days a week when deployed
- CAT inspectors generally make more income than local inspectors
- Techs are required to have their own trucks and equipment
- Techs need to have workman's comp and general liablity insurance in order to receive assignments/claims
- Most ladder assist companies do not allow roof inspectors to also be a roofer or adjuster in any way (conflict of interest)
- Techs must be able to access 2-3 story roofs, and must be comfortable with heights in this dangerous field
- High paying ladder assist techs must travel travel travel to make good money
- Techs cannot have any felonies and must possess a valid drivers license
- **Must have DEPENDABLE TRUCK to transport 32 foot aluminum ladders
